Maldivian flight makes emergency landing at Kooddoo Airport due to broken windshield

Maldivian flight heading from Gan of Addu City to Male’ City was forced to make an emergency landing in Gaafu Alifu Kooddoo Airport after its cockpit windshield cracked and broke.

Photos submitted to Sun Online show that the right windshield of the cockpit was cracked to a large extent, making it impossible to see through the glass.

A large amount of smoke was inside the flight when it made an emergency landing at Kooddoo airport. Passengers and crew were asked to disembark the aircraft.

Abdul Haris, Managing Director of Island Aviation said to Sun Online that the windshield was cracked just after the flight departed from Gan and it made an emergency landing in Kooddoo Airport because flying would not be safe in that condition.

Haris said that they would send a new windshield by a Maldivian flight Wednesday to change the windshield of the aircraft.

He added that a new flight will be arranged to transport the passengers from Kooddoo to Male’.
