Names of the people who received 300 flats from Hulhumale’ being built under the name “SIFCO Hiyaa” has been announced, and it has been decided to build 300 more flats for officers of Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF).
A total of 1,200 MNDF officers applied for the 300 flats of “SIFCO Hiyaa”. Flats were given to the winners in an event held at Kalhthukkalaa Koshi Sunday evening. The flats were handed over to the recipients by Defence Minister Mohamed Nazim, Chief of Defence Force Major General Ahmed Shiyam and senior officials of MNDF.
The announcement regarding the construction of the additional 300 flats was made, at the ceremony held to unveil the new combat uniform of MNDF, by Chief of Defence Force Major General Ahmed Shiyam. He said that MNDF was trying to facilitate construction of houses in islands for those who own lands in islands.
“We will not stop with these 300 flats. After these, additional 300 flats will be built very soon. SIFCO (Sifainge Cooperative) and SIWEC (Sifainge Welfare Kunfuni) are thinking of an approach to facilitate building houses for those who own land in islands,” said Shiyam.
Shiyam did not mention where the additional 300 flats were going to be built.
Chief Guest of the event, Defence Minister Nazim said that construction of Defence Force harbour at Uthuru Thilafalhu would start next year and that project will include accommodation facilities for MNDF officers.
