Runway of Ibrahim Nasir International Airport (INIA) has been closed temporarily due to oil leakage from a flight landed in Saturday evening.
Oil leaked to INIA runway from a flight of Singapore Airline. The runway was shut down from 10:03pm due to this incident.
Many flights have delayed their landing time following oil leak.
An official of Maldives Airports Company (MACL) said to Sun Online that hydraulic oil leaked from Singapore Airline flight SQ-452 during landing and run way was shut down to clear the fluid.
“Hydraulic oil leaked from the flight during landing. Flight is at parking zone now. Luckily, there were no flights during that incident,” said the official.
MACL said that runway was being cleaned and they would be able to start airport operations around Sunday 00:00.
INIA runway was shutdown on 6th October at 10:30pm also, following an oil leak from a Singapore Airline flight.
