The suspect earlier placed under house arrest over the disappearance of journalist Ahmed Rilwan Abdulla, has been released.
The police spokesperson told Sun Online that the 22-year-old suspect, who was transferred to house arrest on 3 October, was released by the court following a detention period hearing.
The court placed him under house arrest for five days following the first detention period hearing after he was arrested on 28 September; while a second 22-year-old suspect, who was arrested on the same day, was released.
Police said that two people, aged 24 and 25, remain in custody in relation to this case.
The court has given detention periods of ten days for both suspects - on 5 October for the 24-year-old, and on 4 October for the 25-year-old.
No details except for the ages have been disclosed of the suspects arrested over Rilwan’s disappearance.
Police have searched several locations in Male’, Hulhumale’ Vilimale’, and other islands, as part of their search operation for Rilwan.
Police have also said that video footage of 293 hours, collected from 30 cameras in various locations, are under investigation; and some forensic evidence have been sent abroad for further study.
