Expatriate worker accused of child abuse

An expatriate worker has been arrested in Fuvahmulah, after accusations that he committed sexual abuse of a child.

Police informed Sun Online that a 35-year-old Bangladeshi man was arrested, after the child’s family filed a complaint yesterday, around 16:20 hrs local time.

The police also said that Fuvahmulah Magistrate Court approved request to keep the accused in police custody for three days during investigation.

Police said that cases of child abuse has been on the rise recently, and advised parents to not let children out of their sight, and not to send children to places alone.

The police also urged parents to be more careful about the people with whom the children interact.
