Agreement signed with MTCC to protect Vilimale' eroding area

The government has signed an agreement with the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), for a project worth MVR 7.3 million to construct a seawall on the side of Vilimale’ which is damaged by soil erosion.

The agreement was signed at a ceremony held at the Environment Ministry, by Environment Minister Thorig Ibrahim and General Manager of MTCC Aishath Susan.

Minister Thorig said that the project, to be completed within 250 days, will see the construction of a 130-meter revetment.

He added that projects to prevent erosion have been implemented in five islands.

Susan informed that the project will be will commence in January after the Environmental Impact Assessment.
