Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom has called on the judiciary to expedite punishment for those involved in the murder of Dr Afrasheem Ali.
Gayoom said on Twitter today:
On behalf of PPM I call on the judiciary to expedite the punishment of Dr Afrashim's murderers n all those who had assisted them.

Dr Afrasheem Ali was murdered on 1 October 2012 between 11:30 p.m. and 2 a.m. in the staircase of his residence, H. Funvilu.
The Criminal Court has found Hussain Human Ahmed, H. Lobby, Male’, guilty of murder and sentenced him to death. This sentence has been appealed in the High Court.
The second suspect, Ali Shan, H. Hicoast, Male’, was cleared of murder by the court on 14 September.
