Attorney General visits elderly people at IGMH

Attorney General Mohamed Anil has visited elderly people at the Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

During the visit which took place at around 12:30 p.m., the attorney general also conversed with other patients and nurses at the hospital.

Deputy Minister of Law and Gender Shidhatha Shareef told reporters that the attorney general’s visit was part of the ministry’s activities in relation to the World Day of Older Persons, marked on 1 October.

She said that in addition to this visit, a message regarding the World Day of Older Persons was presented during assembly at schools across the country.

The message given to schools focused on training students to be aware of the needs and rights of older people, said Shidhatha.

She added that efforts are also ongoing with other institutions to ensure respect and protection to the elderly.
