Mass gathering of 35,000 planned for Eid prayer

The Eid al-Adha prayer congregation will be organised to facilitate a mass gathering of 35,000 people, the Ministry of Islamic Affairs has said today.

Imran Adil, personal assistant to the Minister of Islamic Affairs, told Sun Online that similar to previous years, everyone will gather at the same location in Male’ for the prayer on the morning of Eid al-Adha 1435.

He said that the congregation will take place at the Maafannu stadium grounds, and that security will be provided by Maldives Police Service, Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF), and scouts.

The prayer will be led by Sheikh Mohamed Latheef.
