President Yameen to attend ICAPP in Colombo

The President’s Office has announced that President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom will attend the opening ceremony of the 8th General Assembly of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP), to be held in Colombo, Sri Lanka, from 18 to 21 September 2014.

Spokesperson for the President’s Office Ibrahim Muaz Ali told Sun Online that President Yameen will depart for Colombo tomorrow, and that the invitation to attend this conference was extended by President of Sri Lanka Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Muaz said that President Yameen will then travel to Singapore, on the invitation of Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Hsien Loong, and meet with Prime Minister Lee during his stay in Singapore.

The President will be accompanied in both visits by Minister at the President’s Office Mohamed Hussain Shareef and Minister of Tourism Ahmed Adheeb.

The President is scheduled to depart for the hajj pilgrimage on 25 September.
