Met Office warns of heavy rain in central and southern regions

The Maldives Department of Meteorology (Met Office) has advised caution following forecasts of heavy rain in central and southern parts of the country over the next 24 hours.

Meteorological Forecaster at the Met Office Abdulla Hafiz told Sun Online that flooding has been reported from some islands in the south, as a result of heavy rain.

He said that winds are strongest in the northern and central regions, but heavy rain is more likely in the central and southern regions.

Met Office has said that winds will pick up to 35 to 40 miles per hour during storms in central and southern Maldives, and advised caution especially when travelling by sea.
