Jumhooree Party (JP) has been fined for a ninth time, for submitting membership forms in violation of the Political Parties Act.
The Elections Commission said in a statement that JP was fined MVR 10,000, for submitting 258 membership forms with repeated fingerprints of 36 people, thereby violating Article 48 (a) of the Political Parties Act for a ninth time.
Article 48 (a) of the Political Parties Act gives the Elections Commission the authority to fine parties that submit membership forms in violation of the law, an amount not less than MVR 5,000 and not exceeding MVR 10,000.
