Five members appointed to ACC

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has appointed five members to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The new members are Aminath Minna, Yazmeed Mohamed, Safwath Mohamed, Hassan Luthfy, and Muavviz Rasheed.

Hassan Luthfy and Muavviz Rasheed were President and Vice President respectively of ACC, during the previous term.

The members took their oath, administered by Supreme Court Judge Abdulla Areef, at a ceremony at the President’s Office. President Yameen also presented their letters appointment at the ceremony.

The appointment of these five members to ACC was approved by the parliament on 27 August.

Three former members of ACC, Mohamed Shafeeu, Abdulla Hilmy and Khadeeja Rasheed also applied for the new term; but their names were not sent to the parliament for approval by the president.
