Maldivian Red Crescent donates $51,000 to Gaza

The Maldivian Red Crescent (MRC) has gifted $51,088.46 to the Palestine Red Crescent Society.

MRC launched a nationwide fundraising campaign in July, following an appeal by the Palestine Red Crescent Society that a total budget of $14.5 million is required to provide emergency relief to the people of Gaza for the next six months.

MRC announced at a ceremony held at the Maldives National University today, that that the $51,088.46 collected during the Palestine Relief Fund campaign, held from 22 July to 27 August, has been delivered to the Palestine Red Crescent Society.

Fund-raising activities were organised by four MRC branches in the atolls, as well as its main branch in Male’. Generous donations were made by various groups, including funds raised through auctions by some members of the national football team.
