Heavy rain causes flooding in Male

Heavy rain since last night has caused flooding on the roads of Male’.

This has resulted in difficulties for pedestrians and people on motorcycles. People who arrived for work this morning from other islands such as Hulhumale’, had to step into the water before they could get on their vehicles.

The floods also posed challenges for tourists visiting Male’, and caused delays for people going to hospitals and seeking other basic services.

While floods are common in Male’ following heavy rain, the situation today is observed to be worse than usual.
