Private car seized in connection with Rilwan investigation

The police have seized a private car as part of their investigation into the disappearance of Minivan News journalist, Ahmed Rilwan Abdulla.

Sources have told Sun Online that the red car, used in Hulhumale’, was seized by the police last week.

Drivers of another private car and two red taxis used in Hulhumale’ have also been questioned by the police in relation to this case.

This has however not been confirmed by the police.

Minivan News has claimed that on the night of Rilwan’s disappearance, a man was seen being forced into a vehicle directly outside Rilwan’s apartment in Hulhumale’.

Minister of Home Affairs Umar Naseer has said that this claim is being investigated by the police.

Naseer said at a press conference on 20 August, “This incident [of a person being forced into a vehicle outside Rilwan’s apartment] has been reported to the police. However, it has not been confirmed if the incident is connected to Rilwan’s disappearance. But investigations are ongoing in this line, as well as several others.”

Large areas in Male’ and Hulhumale’ have been searched by the police over the past weeks as part of the search for Rilwan. Passports of four individuals have also been withheld as part of this investigation.
