Four passports withheld in relation to search for Rilwan

Passports have been withheld of four people in relation to the disappearance of Minivan News journalist, Ahmed Rilwan Abdulla.

Sources have told Sun Online that the four passports were withheld today. The identities of the four people have not been disclosed by the police or the Department of Immigration and Emigration, at the time of publication.

Rilwan was reported missing by his family on 13 August.

As part of the efforts to locate him, the police have searched buildings in Male’ and Hulhumale’, several uninhabited islands, and land sea transport vehicles.

Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has also joined the police in the search operation.

Rilwan is believed to have been missing since 8 August. Police have said that despite the CCTV footage, which shows Rilwan buying a ticket at Hulhumale’ Ferry Terminal in Male’ and entering the waiting area, it cannot be confirmed that he boarded the ferry and reached Hulhumale’.
