Police investigate death threats to three MPs

Police have launched an investigation into death threats to three Members of Parliament from the opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).

A police media official said that Machangoalhi-north MP Mariya Ahmed Didi, Galolhu-north MP Eva Abdulla and Meedhoo MP Rozaina Adam have received death threats via SMS.

No arrests have been made in relation to the threats. MDP said Speaker of the Parliament Abdulla Maseeh has also been informed of the issue.
