Committee approves Zahira as Deputy Governor of MMA

Parliament Committee on Independent Institutions has passed to recommend Aishath Zahira for a second term as the Deputy Governor of the central bank, Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA).

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom submitted Aishath Zahira’s name to the parliament for approval on 15 June ahead of the end of her first term on 1 July 2014.

Zahira scored 90.5 percent in the committee evaluation. A candidate is required to score above 75 percent in the evaluation to earn a committee endorsement.

Vote of consent to appoint Zahira to the central bank’s Deputy Governor position has been scheduled for the sitting on Sunday.
