Fenaka to construct sewerage for housing units in Kudahuvadhoo

Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure has commissioned government utilities company Fenaka Corporation to establish a sewerage system for the housing units in Dhaalu Kudahuvadhoo.

Housing Minister Dr Mohamed Muizzu and Managing Director of Fenaka Corporation Mohamed Nimal signed the agreement at an event held at the Ministry today.

Dr Muizzu said at the event that electricity grids and a sewerage system will be established for 53 housing units, and that the project will be completed within 120 days.

Fenaka Corporation said that work will begin soon. The project, funded by the government, will cost MVR4.01 million.

The housing units will be handed over to residents of Dhaalu Atoll Vaanee who were relocated to Kudahuvadhoo following the Boxing Day Tsunami in 2004. The people of Vaanee currently rent houses from an allowance provided by the government.

Kudahuvadhoo MP Ahmed Amir, Vice President of Maldives Development Alliance (MDA) said at the event today that the housing project for the people of Vaanee is one of the top priorities of the new government and that he hopes to see the units handed over soon.
