Candidates from public for JSC membership sent for committee review

Candidates from the public to be appointed to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) have been forwarded for review to the Parliament Committee on Independent Institutions.

The four applicants are; Husham Waheed of G. Male’ Hiya, Zoona Mohamed of G. Tharijehige, Abdul Hannan Ahmed of G. Park View and Ibrahim Ahmed of V. ViliVila.

The Constitution reqires a member of the general public, appointed by the parliament, to sit in JSC. The seat is currently held by Sheikh Shuaib Abdul Rahman. Judicial Service Commission is the primary judicial oversight body of the State.
