A youth centre for Maldivians will open in Sri Lanka this week, Minister of Youth and Sports Maleeh Jamal has told the parliament in a question session today.
“I am happy to announce that a youth centre will open in Sri Lanka on the 15th or 17th of this month. This is to empower and increase opportunities for young Maldivians in neighbouring Sri Lanka,” said Maleeh Jamal.
The Youth Minister also pledged to provide the necessary equipment to existing youth centres across the country within the year.
“By the end of the year, we will provide all youth centres with equipment for billiard, chess and carom,” he said.
Maheel said that a futsal turfs in Fuvahmulah - recently constructed by Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) and the State Trading Organization (STO) - will open within the week, and that a similar futsal turf will open in Feydhoo, Addu City in two weeks.
Youth Ministry will also commence construction of a swimming pool in Hulhumale’ this year, Minister of Youth and Sports Maleeh Jamal said.
