The government of India has provided 74 scholarships to Maldives for the year 2014-15.
The High Commission of India said in a statement today that 74 civilian scholarships in prestigious Indian institutions have been provided to Maldivian nationals who wish to pursue their studies in India under various schemes, including the Commonwealth Scholarship Scheme, SAARC Scholarship Scheme, and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) General Scholarship Scheme.
High Commissioner of India to the Maldives Rajeev Shahare met a group of ten ICCR Scholars on 26 June at the Chancery, who will be departing on 29 June and 5 July to pursue their higher studies in India.
The High Commission further said that 5,530 Maldivians have completed courses under the $5.3 million Technology Adoption Project funded by the government of India, which includes 3,053 teacher certifications, 1,674 youth certifications in IT, and 803 certifications in ICT related vocational courses.
“India attaches the highest importance to its relations with the Maldives and is committed to cooperate with the Maldives in its developmental efforts. India is the largest developmental partner of Maldives especially in the human resource development and health sectors,” read the statement.
