Man caught eating during Ramadan arrested with drugs

A man caught eating during daytime today, the first day of Ramadan, has been arrested with six plastic packets containing a substance believed to be drugs.

The 34-year-old man was arrested while eating in the stairwell on the second floor of a house in Mahchangolhi in Male’. The incident was reported to the police by a member of the public.

The suspect has criminal record for drug-related offences, theft, and domestic violence.
