Preliminary list of teachers housing flat recipients published

A preliminary list of the recipients of government-built housing flats for teachers, Edhuru Hiya, has been published on the government gazette today.

Lots were drawn for 15 one-bedroom flats and 60 two-bedroom flats on Thursday. The preliminary list of winners will be displayed at Edhuru Hiya, Education Ministry and the Ministry’s website, said the Ministry in a statement today.

The Ministry also said that it will be open for complaints regarding the preliminary list until 6 July.

A total of 405 people applied for Edhuru Hiya flats, out of which 7 were disqualified. A seven-member committee consisting of officials from various relevant government institutions evaluated remaining 398 applications.

The Edhuru Hiya project, worth MVR 62 million, was funded by Education Ministry’s Education Fund (MVR 36 million) and a loan from the Islamic Bank (MVR 26 million).

A 10-storey building with 18 one-bedroom apartments and 62 two-bedroom flats was constructed under the Edhuru Hiya project. Out of the 80 flats in total, 5 have been reserved for the purposes of the Ministry.
