Police are working to send back the 14 crewmen found onboard an Iranian fishing vessel found adrift off the island of Thimarafushi in Thaa Atoll on 6 June.
Police media official said investigations have confirmed that the vessel drifted to Maldivian waters without intention, and said that they are discussing the possibility of transporting the crew back to Iran.
The vessel had been adrift for two months when it was found by a fishing boat from Thimarafushi. Maldives police have been providing food, water and accommodation to the 14 crewmen. The vessel and crew are currently in Thaa Madifushi.
