Corruption case against former Deputy Mayor sent to PG

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has forwarded a case to the Prosecutor General’s Officer to pursue charges against former Deputy Mayor of Male’ City Ibrahim Sujau, with allegations of corruption regarding the outsource of public toilets in Male’.

ACC said in a statement today that Sujau, without consultation with other members of the Male’ City Council, had amended an agreement to extend the term of lease for a series of public toilets in Male’.

The commission seeks to charge Sujau under Article 12 of the Prevention and Prohibition of Corruption Act for trying to attain undue advantage through use of influence from his position at the council.
