Witnesses presented as evidence in Ahsan Basheer

Two eyewitnesses and three other people were presented as evidence against the accused regarding the case of Ahsan Basheer, 21, of Varudheege, S. Hithadoo, who was murdered in March 2011.

Murder charges are filed against Ibrahim Shahum Adam of G. Cosy, who is also identified by Police as a dangerous criminal; and Hassan Shimaz Mohamed Suvadh of Ma. Venusthari.

Of the five people presented in court, two witnessed the attack on Basheer. Basheer, while lying in the hospital, had told the other three that it was Shahum and Shimaz who had attacked him.

The state lawyer requested the court not to reveal the identities of the testifiers, in consideration of the safety of the people willing to provide testimonies.

The state also presented Basheer’s death report, medico legal reports, and a photo taken in the hospital showing his injuries as evidence.

Shahum’s lawyer when asked to defend his case after the evidence was presented, said that a response will be given when the necessary papers for the case are received.

Shimaz, who does not have a lawyer to represent him, said that he had nothing to say.

Judge of Criminal Court concluded today’s session by indicating that testimonies will be provided by the people presented in court by the state as evidence in the next session.
