Thieves enter shop through roof; steal goods worth more than Rf 100,000

Owner of Sales Zone, a shop located near T-Jetty harbour, has said that goods worth more than Rf 100,000 were stolen last night by thieves who entered by cutting the shop’s tin roof and ceiling.

“We even have security guards at the shop. The doors are strong and secure. Maybe the security guards weren’t paying attention, they didn’t know when all these goods were taken,” owner of the shop Ibrahim Habeeb said.

Phone card bundles worth Rf 3000 and Rf 100, cigarette cases and cigarette cartons are among the items stolen from the wholesale shop.

Habeeb said that the Police have found fingerprints of the thieves at the shop. None of the stolen items have yet been located.

A Police Media Official said today that the goods stolen from the shop should be worth around Rf 150,000. The incident was reported to Police at 7:50 today, and Police are investigating the case.
