President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has proposed lawyer Maumoon Hameed and Criminal Court Judge Muhthaz Muhsin for the post of Prosecutor General.
President’s Office Spokesperson Ibrahim Muaz Ali told Sun Online that the names were sent to the parliament today for approval.
The president also nominated Maumoon Hameed following the first call for applications for the post of Prosecutor General, but he was rejected by the parliament.
Maumoon Hameed was not among the applicants when the President’s Office called for applications for a second time. This announcement was later cancelled, as too few applications were received to make a selection.
Other individuals who applied for the post include former Deputy Prosecutor General Hussain Shameem and three judges.
