Jumhooree Party (JP) has been fined by the Elections Commission for an eighth time following failure to comply with the Political Parties Act when submitting membership forms.
Elections Commission said that JP was fined MVR 10,000 for including the same fingerprint on several membership forms.
JP was fined MVR 10,000 last month as well, for the same violation.
Article 48 (a) of the Political Parties Act states that violation of regulations by political parties when submitting membership forms carries a fine of between MVR 5,000 and MVR 10,000.
