Auditor General Niyaz Ibrahim has advised in the Audit Report of Ministry of Foreign Affairs for 2011 to reclaim the money paid against regulations as allowances to former Maldivian Ambassador to the European Union (EU) Ali Hussain.
The report states that $17,500 (MVR 269,850) was paid as special allowances between 1 September and 31 December 2011 to the Maldivian Ambassador to EU, in violation of regulations.
The report states that the Ambassador was also given $3,500 - supposed to be a monthly allowance - twice in October 2011; and €7,566 was transferred to his personal bank account as representational grant.
