AFC Challenge Cup: Afghanistan 3

Afghanistan has won the fourth Group B match of the AFC Challenge Cup 2014 by 3 – 1 against Turkmenistan, and moved closer to the semi-finals.

Following this match Afghanistan has earned four points in total, and is now at par with Philippines in first place in Group B. In third place is Turkmenistan, and Laos with 0 points is at the bottom in and will not proceed further in the competition.

The goals for Afghanistan came in the 45th minute by Haroon Fakhrudin, in the 60th minute by Ahmad Arash Hatifi, and in the 86th minute by F Shayesteh. The only goal for Turkmenistan came in the 63rd minute by Muhadov Suleyman.

A good part of the match was played in heavy rain. Five yellow cards and two red cards were issued to Turkmenistan – including a red card for its goalkeeper, who was replaced by midfielder Ahmedov Bahtiyar. Turkmenistan played with nine players from the 83rd minute onwards, including five minutes of added time.

Despite this defeat, Turkmenistan is still in the competition and will appear in the second round.
