Challenge Cup tickets still available, sale will resume tomorrow: FAM

Entrance tickets for all AFC Challenge Cup matches are still available and sale will resume tomorrow, Football Association of Maldives (FAM) has said, addressing public concerns that the tickets have already sold out.

An official from FAM said, “None of the Maldives matches are sold out. Tickets will be sold tomorrow. We’ve sold the most number of tickets for the first match, but the total amount of tickets sold is not final yet,” the official said.

FAM today started selling tickets for Group A matches, to be played in the capital Male’. The first fixture, between Palestine and Kyrgyzstan, is set to kick off at 4:00 p.m. local time on Monday.

The 2014 AFC Challenge Cup will be officially inaugurated at a special ceremony on Monday night, with the second Group A match, between Maldives and Myanmar, scheduled for 9:00 p.m.

Sale of tickets will resume tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. from the National Football Stadium and STO Home Improvement, FAM said. In addition to the two locations, the association also sold tickets from Lifebuoy turf grounds today.

To counter a black market, FAM has restricted the sale of National Football Stadium tickets to one ticket per person and five tickets per person from the seats and stairs areas, sold for MVR 50 and MVR 25 respectively.
