Football Association of Maldives (FAM) President Ilham Ahmed has appointed Secretary General of the Maldives National Olympic Committee Ahmed Marzooq (Marey) as the chief representative in Addu City for the upcoming AFC Challenge Cup.
FAM said Marzooq will have full authority to make arrangements related to the tournament in Addu City. FAM chief Ilham Ahmed described Marzooq as a capable and productive individual who’s experience will play a major role in the success of the tournament.
A former player for Club Valencia and Youth Sports Club, Marzooq has served as the Secretary General of the Maldives National Olympic Committee since 2009, prior to which he served as the Secretary General of Victory Sports Club.
Accommodation for Group B teams, comprising of Turkmenistan, Philippines, Afghanistan and Laos, has been arranged at Herethere Resort. Group B matches will take place in Hithadhoo Zone Stadium in Addu City.
Group A matches, between Maldives, Palestine, Kyrgyzstan and Myanmar, will be played in the Galolhu National Stadium in the capital Male’. The AFC Challenge Cup will officially launch on Monday night and will continue until 30 May.
