U.S. Ambassador calls on President

Ambassador of the United States of America to the Maldives Michele J. Sison has paid a courtesy call on President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.

Discussions at the meeting held at the President’s Office today were focused on the bilateral relations between the Maldives and the United States, and on ways to further enhance cooperation between both countries, revealed the President’s Office.

In a statement released today, the office stated that President Yameen shared with the U.S. Ambassador, the Government’s strategies to improve the country’s current economic situation. The President also noted that economic transformation was on top of his Government’s agenda.

Ambassador Sison briefed the President on the ongoing and planned US aided developmental programs in the Maldives. The Ambassador also reassured of U.S.’s continuous support and cooperation to the Maldives.
