High Court to deliver verdicts on 13 election cases tomorrow

High Court has scheduled the announcement of verdicts on cases filed in relation to Parliamentary Elections for 13 constituencies, for tomorrow.

The hearings have been scheduled between 9:00 a.m. and 1:50 p.m.

Out of the 13 cases, 10 are regarding annulment of elections. This includes requests to annul Vilingili and Isdhoo elections by Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP); requests to annul Kaashidhoo, Funadhoo, and Feydhoo elections by MDP candidates who ran for those seats; requests to annul Hithadhoo Uthuru, Hithadhoo Medhu, Thimarafushi, and Felidhoo elections by candidates of Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) who ran for those seats; and a request to annul the election for Naifaru by Jumhooree Party (JP).

In addition, MDP candidate who ran for Nolhivaram seat has requested to annul the ballot box for Nolhivaram placed in Male’, and hold a new election for Nolhivaram in Male’.

MDP has also filed a case requesting to annul the ballot box for Gemanafushi in Gaafu Alifu Dhevvadhoo, and hold a new election for Gemanafushi in Dhevvadhoo.

And lastly, JP has requested the court to order Elections Commission to recount the votes for Kurendhoo.
