Maldives Broadcast Commission has commenced discussions to create standards for “Code of Ethics” for broadcasters.
Broadcasters in Maldives as well groups associated with broadcast media will participate in the two-day discussion sessions held at Islamic Centre.
Director General of Maldives Broadcast Commission Mohamed Nasih said that in tomorrow’s meeting, revisions as suggested by participants will be made to the Code of Ethics.
Nasih said that actions of broadcasters will be monitored according to the published broadcast regulation.
“The purpose of creating these regulations is to inform broadcasters as well as the public how broadcasters should act. These regulations do not limit broadcasters from having their own editorial policies or other standards that they wish to follow. However they should not act against the basic guidelines,” Nasih said.
