Vice President Dr Mohamed Jameel Ahmed has met the families of the two men who died in the accident at Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) harbour last night.
Spokesperson at President’s Office Ibrahim Muaz Ali told Sun Online that the Vice President first met the family of Ibrahim Shareef, 36, of Maafannu Paris Villa at 9:00 p.m., followed by the family of Mohamed Nashid, 32, of Chaandhaneege, Noonu Kudafari.
He then visited the third victim, the crane operator, who is undergoing treatment at ADK Hospital.
Dr Jameel told the families that the government shares their grief, and advised them to be patient.
The government has decided to pay the salaries of the deceased to their families until the children turn 18, as well as to give MVR 50,000 to each of the families as compensation.
