South Korean Ambassador Jongmoon Choi has paid a courtesy call on President Dr Mohamed Waheed.
At the meeting, President Waheed briefed the Ambassador on the measures taken by the government to calm the political situation in the Maldives. He said that he was open for an early election but that it could only be done within the bounds of the Constitution. He assured that the democratic achievements made by the Maldives will be preserved.
Ambassador Choi congratulated the President on his assumption of office, and welcomed the President’s efforts to resolve the current political challenges.
The President and the Ambassador also discussed bilateral relations between Maldives and South Korea and explored possibilities of enhancing those relations in the areas of tourism, climate change and information technology.
