Maldives Pension Administration Office (MPAO) has extended the deadline for expatriate workers to enroll on the Maldives Retirement Pension Scheme until 15 April.
The deadline was previously set to Monday, 31 March. Director at MPAO Ismail Sujau told Sun that the delay follows an amendment bill recently submitted to parliament seeking to overturn the mandatory enrollment of expatriate workers in the retirement pension scheme.
The amendment bill to the Maldives Pension Act was submitted by ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) MP Abdul Azeez Jamaal Aboobakuru last Saturday.
