Civil Court has refuted State Bank of India’s (SBI) claim that it has been unable to appeal Civil Court’s sentence on the case involving Sheesha because the court had not released the case report.
Civil Court ordered SBI on 16 January 2014 to pay MVR 13.5 million to Sheesha within one month.
A senior official of Civil Court told Sun Online that the case summary report was released to SBI following the conclusion of the trial, and that an appeal case can be filed based on this report.
He said that SBI had not requested for the full case report.
SBI transferred MVR 18 million in total on 9 and 20 November 2011 from the account of the plaintiff, three brothers and owners of local motorcycle dealer Sheesha, to a group of people who submitted forged documents; following which two employees of SBI were charged with fraud.
Sheesha filed another case to Civil Court last week requesting implementation of the sentence against SBI, after the bank failed to pay the company the MVR 13.5 million as ordered earlier by the court.
