Man convicted to 5 years over stabbing

Criminal Court has today sentenced Shifan Zufrath of H. Rozendale, Male’ to 5 years in prison for stabbing a young man in August last year.

The sentence revealed that Shifan Zufrath, along with several others, had stabbed a man named Mohamed Shah near Ma. Fairy House, Male’, around 10:30 p.m. on 21 August 2013.

The conviction was reached through testimony provided by witnesses and medical reports of the victim, the court said.

Shifan was sentenced under the newly enacted law prohibiting intimidation and the use dangerous and sharp objects in the Maldives.
