Search launched for man missing from boat en route to Dhuvaafaru

Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has launched a search operation for a man who has gone missing while on a boat going from Male’ to Raa Dhuvaafaru.

MNDF said that the missing person is Mohamed Shaneez, 36, of Ma. Atharulaage.

Shaneez was on-board a boat named ‘Dhuvaafaru’ which left Male’ at 8:30 a.m. on Friday morning en route to Dhuvaafaru.

MNDF said that he was last seen at around 2:45 a.m. on Saturday, and that people realised that he was missing after the boat arrived in Dhuvaafaru at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.

The boat captain told MNDF said that it was not known if Shaneez was on the boat when it stopped at Raa Maakurathu at 6:00 a.m. on Saturday.

MNDF said that Shaneez is about 5 ft 6 in tall, and was wearing brown jeans and a long-sleeved, black shirt when he was last seen.
