Progressive Party of Maldives' (PPM) parliamentary candidate for Hinnavaru, Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim has filed a case in Elections Commission’s Complaints Bureau, alleging that ballots were removed from the Hinnavaru box placed in Male’ before the box was sealed, in the election last Saturday.
Preliminary results show Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) candidate Ibrahim Mohamed Solih won the Hinnavaru seat with 1602 votes and Nazim, who came second, gained 1441 votes.
Speaking to Sun, Abdulla Nazim said the case was filed based on information provided by the observers who were covering the Hinnavaru box in Male’. Nazim said he will seek the courts depending on Elections Commission's response.
