Some ballot boxes might have to be recounted following complaints: EC

Elections Commission has said that some ballot boxes might have to be reopened and votes recounted after investigating candidates’ complaints.

Elections Commission Member Ali Mohamed Manik said this during a ceremony held today to announce preliminary results for seven constituencies.

The constituencies for which preliminary results were announced today are Dhuvaafaru, Ungoofaaru, Inguraidhoo, Maduvvari, Kanditheemu, Milandhoo, and Komandoo.

Ali Mohamed Manik said that the commission had received eight complaints thus far, and action will be taken as required after these issues are investigated.

Elections Commission Member Ismail Habeeb said in response to a question by Sun Online that efforts are ongoing to announce preliminary results for all constituencies tonight.

He said that announcement of official results will begin on Friday.

Habeeb reminded everyone that there is a chance that the official results are different from the preliminary results.
