Political parties are anticipating highly competitive elections for the two Gaafu Dhaalu Thinadhoo constituencies, as the people of Thinadhoo conclude their campaign activities ahead of voting at the Parliamentary Election tomorrow.
Five candidates will contest the elections for Thinadhoo North and Thinadhoo South. They are Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) candidate Saudulla Hilmy and Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) candidate Mohamed Gasam for Thinadhoo North, and MDP candidate Mohamed Nazim, Jumhooree Party (JP) candidate Abdulla Mohamed, and independent candidate Aminath Naseema for Thinadhoo South.
Senior official of PPM in Thinadhoo Azim Hussain said that he was confident that the government coalition will win the Thinadhoo elections.
Similarly, MDP, which has always had the majority of Thinadhoo on its side, was also confident that it would win the elections. Thinadhoo Council Member Saud Ali said, “Considering the number of votes we received in the Presidential Election and the Local Council Election, we are 100 percent sure that we will win this election as well.”
Government coalition supporters marched the streets of Thinadhoo to conclude their Parliamentary Election campaign, while MDP held its usual parade.
