Commissioner of Police Hussain Waheed has said that the police will utilise all resources at its disposal to ensure a peaceful Parliamentary Election tomorrow (Saturday).
Commissioner Waheed assured that the police are fully prepared for the election.
“Police officers will be present to maintain security at all ballot box locations in Male’, the islands, and abroad. Unrest in relation to the election will not be tolerated,” he said.
Commissioner Waheed said that it is the wish of all Maldivian citizens that tomorrow’s election be conducted in a peaceful and orderly manner.
He stressed the importance during voting, of citizens following police officers’ instructions in line with policies and security standards set by Elections Commission.
He also called on candidates, representatives of candidates, and political parties to ensure that no unrest takes place during tomorrow’s election.
