A number of black widow spiders have been discovered inside the Electric and Air-conditioning Department in Ibrahim Nasir International Airport (INIA).
An employee at INIA told Sun that the first spiders - identified to be of the more venomous, female black widow spiders - were discovered last night. More were discovered and captured this morning, the employee said.
A member of the genus Latrodectus, the species is capable of delivering a comparatively dangerous venom through its bite, poisonous to humans.
The airport conducted a pest control and extermination project after similar venomous spiders were discovered in 2006.
