Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has released a statement saying that the audio clip broadcast on Raajje TV news last night, which included the alleged voice of an MNDF officer, is fake.
MNDF refuted claims that the person speaking on the audio recording broadcast on Raajje radio is an officer of MNDF who was working on dismantling the MDP camp at Raalhugan’du area on 19 March. MNDF also said that the voice was dubbed, and created by using sound effects.
The statement further condemned such acts conducted for the purpose of damaging the reputation of the country’s defence forces. MNDF assured Maldivians that they remain steadfast in the protection and security of the nation and Maldivian people, and will uphold the constitution and serve the country with honesty.
In the audio clip broadcast by Raajje TV last night, a person is heard saying that the cans of beer found at MDP camp at Lonuziyaaraiy kolhu were placed there by MNDF, who brought them inside the camp area in a box and place them in a styrofoam case labeled MDP while the cans were still cold.
